Devotchka

Last night I saw Devotchka live. Awesome possum.

For those of you who dunno them, you might have heard them in my Kelisa roundabout Sem 4 Sem 5 time.

For those of you who haven't been riding in my Kelisa at the time, I prolly didn't like you very much.

Nolah just kidding.

Anyway, here is the violinist/multiple other instrument-ist playing with a blow keyboard.

You know the type. The one Std 2 students have to buy so they can learn to play in school. Like this one:

Damn funky, hor? Damn amusing.

Here is the drummer/trumpeter/percussionist having a go at the accordion.

The set:

Err.. Two other band members (vocalist and sousaphone player) are inevitably missing because my camera phone not that canggih. They should be standing far right in the picture. :P

St Patrick's Day

I like St Patrick's Day.

Had immense caboodles of fun at the Irish pub O'Neills. So glad we decided to go there.

The band playing was AWESOME. The music reverberated throughout the place and the atmosphere was so FUN! Just everyone bouncing along to the music - some pop rock interspersed with some Irish folk (they had a violinist - awesome rite?). And everyone had black pints of Guinness Stout in their hands.

And a lottt of pub guys asking for wee kisses from us girls.

Some random dude gave me the blue hat I wanted so much. The bar had run out of the hats when we asked.

They were also giving out shamrocks. Here's Ee Lynn wearing one.

I had one but I gave mine to Ben since according to him:

"Some bitch took my hat! She took it from my head, gave me a little kick and then she ran away!"

So I kesian then give him my shamrock. Haha.

Headed off to the Union around midnight. Paid two pounds. That's where the hat got filched. The music wasn't too bad. Typical uni students having a night out.

Haih. I so need to go for more live gigs and possibly a rock concert. And possibly someone playing sax in a ska band. So cool. So awesome. Sax player in a ska band!! Ska band!!! Skaa!!! Sax!!! Exclamation marks!!!

Ok bye bye.

OMG!!!!

An hour ago, I just got kicked out of a club: Viper, Glasgow!

WTF! Me and Hui Mei (we got kicked out together, were SOOOOO pissed off!!)

We don't even know the reason they kicked us out! We were just dancing with random guys on the dancefloor.... nothing wrong with that, omg, it's a freaking club, right? What do you do if you don't dance??!! So we were dancing, and then they approached us and said, "You have to leave the club!"

OMG.

We were like, WTF?? Ok, fine, we WILL leave the club but PLEAAASEEE tell our friends (Fionna and gang were standing right next to us!!!!!) But noooooo... they didn't even care... they even lied to us saying as they ushered us down the stairs, "Yes, we will tell your friends, we know who you came with... some Chinese dudes, we will tell them!!" LIARSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!

They are such liars!! They didn't even let us get our coats from the chair!! Hui Mei was FREEEZING outside in the cold 2am weather!!

And when I asked the bouncer to at least get our jackets for us, he said, "Why should I care about you???"

:O

OMG, righT??!

Whatever la. They didn't even have the decency to tell us why we were kicked out. Didn't even let us take out jackets and DIDN'T even tell our friends that they kicked us out!

OMG!! Leave two small little girls out in the Glasgow cold to fend for their ownselves without anyone else???? What is wrong with the bouncers at Vipers????!!

What is wrong with telling our friends... or at least ONE of them, that we were kicked out?? So wrong, meh?? Will save us from the cold also!! WTFFF

Thank God, I called Khai Yong and thank God he answered the phone then he came out with Selene and Joey. Thank God weyyy... Otherwise, dunno what me and Hui Mei will do. So we took a taxi back home. Phew. Thank God.

Omg, evil bouncers at Viper!! And Nadia read reviews about Viper, and they were NOT good! And she said, the reviews said that Viper had bouncers who were MAD with power and seriously, they really looked it. I should've left early instead of staying on. Omg, so stupid!

Why are Glasgow clubs so stupid compared to KL clubs?? I mean, sure, you don't get rape and snatch theft here (thank God), just don't go to the clubs, weyyyy... the clubbing scene here SUCKSS!!! Just stay at home and save your money not going to the clubs, if wanna get high, get high at home with your own choice of music (yea, the music at Viper also SUCKED!!). Wah, damn stupid.

Haih. Damn pissed off now. Wtv lar.

Burns' Night

Ode tae a Haggis

Fair fa' your honest, sonsie face,
Great chieftain o the puddin'-race!
Aboon them a' ye tak your place,
Painch, tripe, or thairm:
Weel are ye wordy of a grace
As lang's my arm.

The groaning trencher there ye fill,
Your hurdies like a distant hill,
Your pin wad help to mend a mill
In time o need,
While thro your pores the dews distil
Like amber bead.

His knife see rustic Labour dight,
An cut you up wi ready slight,
Trenching your gushing entrails bright,
Like onie ditch;
And then, O what a glorious sight,
Warm-reekin, rich!....
more

Anyhoo.... Went to CountingHouse today and tasted haggis for the first time and what a better time to do such. Tastes like stuffing with a chunk load of barley inside.

Anyway, skiing at Aviemore tomorrow! Looking forward to whatever may come!

Christmas '07

So.... Christmas 07 eh... Quite the new experience for me. Roasted a turkey for the first time. Came out a bit dry but they tell me it's still good so yay. =)

Had a feast that night. Me and Lynno did the turkey and turkey gravy (which gets better the longer you leave it). H1 - Ning, Anson, Ron, Akmal did the mushroom soup which was damn good - it had double cream and real huge mushrooms in it... slurp slurppp! The J1 guys - you all lah - did the salad. Kudos. Then we had eggnog, Prague chocs and Christmas pudding!

I did download a whole bunch of Christmas songs to play that day as background music and to add to the Christmas atmosphere but I forgot about them so oh well. Haha. Ended up watching some dude catch some huge snakes like so mengada.

So New Year's Eve next. Hehehhe. *rub palms with gleee*

Heya, Spongebob!

And here he is with his befuzzled confuzzled kin right next to his right.

Had the COOOOLLESSTTTT bert-dei surprise! So quaint! So pretty! So well lit up was the trailing row of cupcakes interspersed within bday presents and a Patrick Star and set upon notes like a mat so Ee Lynn won't have to eat cupcakes that touch the floor and that ultimately lead up to a crumble cheesecake and then The Fiery Necklace of Impending DooOoOOooM!!!!!!!

So happy happy I was and as far as Hansels go, they give what Hansels give and gave what Hansels give did Hansel did give. And then hot stuffy room (maybe cuz of the owner) and soft thudding tap tap tap of laptop keyboard and comfy comfy bed. But it's good, it's all good.

So thanks lots to my dearies. Life would be so bland without you. You are but the ginger and chilli padi and star anise in my well-stirred curry of life. Always there to pump up the OOOMPH factor and to occasionally dilute out my worries and troubles. And thank you for the precious notes - I had a lot of fun reading them. =D

Oh, Patrick Star is coming to bed with me right now! Tee hee!

Guy Fawkes Night

Remember, remember the fifth of November
The gunpowder treason and plot

So they usually have a lil celebration on or around the 5th November to celebrate the day they uncovered the gunpowder plot of Guy Fawkes and his friends. They were a bunch of Roman Catholic conspirators who tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament, killing the King and most of the Protestant aristocracy. Heheh. A lil Christian disagreement going on here?

They were subsequently hanged, drawn and quartered, and no, Amir, that does not involve a sketchbook nor a pen.

So they had fireworks down at the charming little Glasgow Greens on the pretext of celebrating the bid for Glasgow 2014. Pfft.

I know no reason why the gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.

It was mad cold and even tho we all bundled up like mad - four layers of sweaters, beanie, knitted scarf, leather gloves - we still felt icy in our extremities especially our fingers. My shoes have aeration holes in them and today I woke up and my toes felt a tinge of rheumatism.

Wished they had had a bonfire too. That would have warmed us up real well.

Haih. But the fireworks were quite nice. There were some really pretty mushrooming-like ones you don't see in Malaysia. And very nice attempt at coordinating the music almost-in-time with the fireworks display.

Aight, scram!

Halloween 2007

Dressed up as Jane Sparrow and carved a pumpkin. No, not at the same time. This one's called Pumpkin Jack! =D

Made pumpkin pie out of his insides. Recipe here. The kuaci was to be roasted for munchies during mindless idle chit chat sessions.

Me as Jane Sparrow which was really Ee Lynn's brainstorming and then Van helped out with the accessories. Ee Lynn went as the mad scientist, Kah Wei the hamsap surgeon, Amir the beat up guy with a boil on his cheek which looked gross, Cherie went as a hot girl.

Went to Kah Wei's church for his anti-Halloween Hallelujah Party. Twas kinda scary in a different kind of way but an eye-opener still. I get the feeling they scold you into submission. Then I hopped off to Karbon where you get in free with a costume! Su Yi just donned on a random scary mask and went. Haha.

Cooo sia.
