Typical camwhoring moment. Sorry Ky's face is half cut off.
Ate delicious smelling strawberries (which tasted damn good too!!). £1.89 for a medium sized box of strawberries that actually smell like strawberries when you put your nose to the box and that actually taste like strawberries. Wth. We were eating them and saying stuff like "Omg this smells just like hand soap (strawberry-scented hand soap, that is)" and "Omg, this tastes exactly like strawberry flavouring!". Now I've never gotten that with the strawberries in Msia. They all taste sour and/or are too expensive to be purchased.
Saw extremely large MASSIVE horses twice my height. They don't look too large in this photo. Dunno, the horses seem to shrink on camera. But in real life, they were so huge I couldn't stop staring! Was speechless for awhile! Haha! I'm so jakun. The horses in Msia are pretty small compared to these ones.
Walked around a lot the first few days. Got to know the city. That pic above here is the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall at Buchanan Street. Buchanan Street is a whole street with lots of stores to do your shopping at.
Went to the West End Festival. It's like a Scottish Mardi Gras. There was a parade (which I couldn't really take any pics of cuz I was squished behind a crowd. Sigh). The music was excellent tho! A lot of people crowded the length of Byres Road just to watch the parade. There was some stalls selling food, knick knacks and what not. One store sold a 'Grow your own Spongebob!' and 'Grow your own Patrick!' along with other 'Grow your own' stuff of which I will leave you to your imagination to imagine what. Lol. Anyway, you put the Spongebob or Patrick into a bowl of water for 72hours and it will grow up to 6times its size.
Another one I saw said 600times. Hmmmm....
Took some pics with this group who was in the parade.
This is a band in the parade who played traditional music. Notice the bagpipe and kilt. Apparently Hansel saw a pair of boxer shorts under someone's kilt so not everyone is wearing it the way it should be worn... Cool and breezy.
Some random pics taken from the park near Glasgow University. There's river there with ducks in it. Yumm. Flowers are aplenty here. Such beautiful ones growing all around like nobody's business. Feel like plucking them out and growing them at home. Haha. There's lavender near the library and daisies all over the grassy knolls near our apartment. The roses are humongous and they actually smell like roses! Not at all like the ones I see in Msia. Crazy, smell so good!!!
And this gray building at the back there looks a LOT like the imigresen building back home in KL. Haha.
Anyway, I guess I should comment on the weather. A favourite question of the peeps back home. That and 'How are the accents? Can understand ah?'
When we arrived, the weather was really sunny. They say we brought the sunshine with us. It was just like a day in Msia!! Except when the wind blew, it got chilly. But walking around with the sun shining hot hot in your face feels a lot like in Msia lor. Everybody whipped out their short sleeves and left their sweaters at home cuz no need.
But, I guess even the sunshine wears out. Now it's all gloomy days and icy winds that freeze your face in one position and we usually run to our classes and back. Lol. Must be a sight for the locals to see us Msian students scuttering about. Our pharmacy building (SIPBS building) is a 2-3min walk from our apartments depending on whether you're running onot.
Oh yea, accents. Lecturers are clear and easy to understand. But when you're out and about and trying to buy a sausage roll (not me lar, other people buy) and you're asking for directions to the nearest halal meat shop, sometimes, you won't understand them at all so you just nod your head and say 'Ta!' (which means 'thank you') and walk off with a big grin pretending you caught more than just a few random words here and there.
And. I. Like. It. Here.
Takes too long to get your bank account opened. Been waiting a week now and still waiting. And takes too much thinking about which phone wanna get - contract or prepaid. Still no number. Still no bank account. Aih.
=D
